Blackout Curtains — Frequently Asked Questions
Blackout curtains use a densely woven or specially lined fabric designed to block essentially all external light, creating full darkness — this is why they're the standard choice for bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms.
The dense weave and lining that blocks light also reduces heat gain from direct sun and dampens some outside noise, though a dedicated thermal curtain or added lining is the better option if noise or heat is the primary concern.
Blackout lining works behind any outer fabric colour, so you're not limited to dark tones — we offer a full range of colours and fabrics with blackout lining built in.
